Publisher Description
SmartDial utilizes the Social Backbone developed by researchers at Rutgers University to marry your social networks with your mobile device. Social Backbone allows devices to share detailed contextual information with each other, including battery level, call state, and even information about the user's environment. SmartDial uses this information to provide enhanced communication options with your friends. Never interrupt someone when they're busy again - SmartDial presents your friends' availability in an easy-to-read contacts list that is kept up-to-date by the Social Backbone. When someone is unavailable, create a reminder to call them later. You will receive a notification as soon as your friend becomes available, allowing you to immediately place your call (at the convenience of both of you!)
Features coming soon:
- Calendar integration & call scheduling (partially done!)
- Flexible privacy configuration
- Configurable availability criteria (battery, time, etc)
- Automatic availability detection using location services
SmartDial requires the application to be installed on all devices which are to share contextual information with each other.
SmartDial and the Social Backbone platform are created and maintained by the Distributed Computing Laboratory (DiscoLab) in the Computer Science Department at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
